Burglaries, Thefts From Cars and Stolen Cars Top the Crime List

During the 18 days between Jan. 18 and Feb. 4, there were 43 Chatsworth-area crimes reported to the police, an average of about 2.4 crimes a day.

Although there were two instances of violent crime, both aggravated assaults, most cases were non-violent in nature with the overwhelming majority being thefts, burglaries, theft from cars and grand theft auto.

The total breakdown of crimes for the period is: 20 thefts from vehicles, 10 other thefts, 7 burglaries, 3 grand theft autos, and the two aggravated assaults.

Reported crime in the Chatsworth area is very low at this moment and the types of crimes are easy to protect against. Simply remember to lock your car doors, garages, and all doors to your home and hide your valuables from plain view and you will greatly reduce your risk.
