Alleged Hit-and-Run Driver Remains in Jail
Dominique Rush was arrested this week in the death of high school student German Alex Romero, 17, who was killed in April while riding a bicycle.
A woman arrested Tuesday in the April hit-and-run death of a popular Chatsworth High School soccer player remained in jail Wednesday night. Her father, who also was arrested Tuesday, was freed on bail.
Dominique Rush, 23, was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. She was arrested at her grandmother's home in Oxnard. Rush will be arraigned on Aug. 26, according to the district attorney’s office.
Her father, Steven Rush, 44, of Porter Ranch, was released on $20,000 bail. He is accused of aiding his daughter to flee and was booked on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact. His arraignment date has not been set.

German Alex Romero, 17, who was to graduate in June, and a friend were riding their bicycles northbound on De Soto Avenue near Valerio Street in Canoga Park at about 9 p.m. April 20 when he was hit by a 2003 Toyota Corolla, police said.
Romero was pronounced dead at the scene. The friend was not injured.
