4.1 Quake Shakes the Southland; Did You Feel It?

Crews at 106 Los Angeles fire stations go into "emergency earthquake mode."

 A magnitude-4.1 earthquake struck two miles north-northeast of Yorba Linda today, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), but there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

The temblor struck at 1:31 p.m. five miles east-northeast of Placentia and eight miles northeast of Anaheim, according to the USGS.

A woman in Anaheim Hills told broadcast outlets she was cleaning her swimming pool when the quake struck, causing the water to slosh from side to side.

It was followed by a magnitude-2.1 quake about three minutes later.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, according to Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Kris Concepcion and Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The quake was felt in parts of Los Angeles, where the city fire department went into "emergency earthquake mode," with fire crews at 106 fire stations doing area assessments.

Quakes in the magnitude-4 range can cause moderate damage.
