At least three people were injured Sunday, two of them critically, in a two-vehicle crash in the Lake Balboa area just a few blocks from Northridge, authorities said.
The crash took place around 4 p.m. at 8245 Balboa Blvd., just south of Roscoe Boulevard, according to fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Humphrey said the crash left four people injured, two critically. However, Los Angeles police Sgt. William Kelly of Valley Traffic Division said his preliminary information was that only three people were hurt in the two-car crash.

"According to the preliminary information I have one car tried to make a left hand turn in front of the other vehicle and the there was a serious crash," Kelly said.
Paramedics transported the injured victims to hospitals for treatment of their injuries, Humphrey said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
