Fire gutted an under-construction, three-story apartment building in Canoga Park early Saturday, and three firefighters were being checked out for injuries.
Firefighters responding to 12:07 a.m. alarm at 7050 Vassar Ave. reported a "loom up," meaning flames were visible, and a transformer apparently exploded on the rear of the property. Part of the main building apparently collapsed.
The blaze was declared out at 1:16 a.m., fire department spokesman Erik Scott said. Nearly 100 firefighters were assigned to the blaze, he said.
One firefighter suffered a hand injury and was transported to a local hospital in fair condition, and placed off-duty. Two others were evaluated -- one for an eye injury, another for illness -- however, both remain on-duty Scott said
