1 Person Killed in Two Vehicle Chatsworth Crash

One person was killed and two others injured Thursday when a box truck slammed into the back of an armored truck in Chatsworth.

The crash happened at 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Chatsworth Street and DeSoto Avenue, said Officer K. Gonzalez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The fatally injured victim, a male who was driving the box truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

A passenger in the box truck, which was being used as a catering vehicle, and the driver of the armored truck were taken to a hospital for treatment, but their conditions were not available, Gonzalez said.

The armored truck was stopped, about to make a left onto Chatsworth Street, when it was rear-ended by the southbound box truck, she said.
