LAUSD is not helping...what else can we do?

Last Tuesday, my sister reported an incident to the Newcastle Elementary school office involving her son and another student. Not only did the other student put their hands on my nephew, they put their hands around his neck. When brought to the attention of the principals office. She was basically ignored and told it was the end of the school year & nothing can be done. Through out the week, she k...ept in touch with the principal trying to move the situation forward and get a written report. Nothing happened. She then notified LAUSD and bascially nothing still happend. The principal finally did a report late last week. In his report he stated that my nephew verbally harrassed the other student and made up other ridiculous lies to go along with it. The other student was never reprimanded, and now my nephew is at "fault".

This situation shows exactly why bullying is such a big problem now a days. The moment an incident happens it should be taken serious. No matter how big or small the situation is. No student should be ignored, regardless of the gender. In this case, its clear that the principal not only favored a student, he favored the gender as well. I spoke directly to him myself regarding this issue with my nephew. His response was "well maybe we should keep the boys away from the girls" like that justifies anything? More like, maybe you should keep THAT girl away from other students. If she went as far as putting her hands around another childs neck, what else is she capable of? How dare he not only ignore the case, but still LIE about it? As I spoke to Mr. Rojas (the principal) I noticed he kept defending the little girl and kept trying to reverse the situation on my nephew. Lets not forget my nephew is the VICTIM here. He did not haze the little girl. He did not even TOUCH the little girl. His Mother taught him better than to put his hands on another person, even less on a female. I hope the School, and LAUSD get their act together and jump on this stiuation. Because, this is exactly how bigger things happen. Schools should be a safe environment for our children. Not a place where they can get hurt, bullied and then ignored. Dont let the school system ignore this one..not only for my nephew but for the rest of the kids that have gone through something similiar and have been ignored. For the future kids that WILL be ignored. Its not right, not fair and its ridiculous that this is even a bigger issue than it should be
