Disapearing green space in Chatsworth Park South?

Rockpointe Townhouse residents recently became aware of a plan to remove the green space bordering the complex in the park and convert it into a gravel parking lot. A Local Volunteer Neighborhood Oversight Committee (LVNOC) appointed by Councilman Englander approved this plan but neglected to advise the residents or the Townhouse Association and have not conducted any environmental studies.

Recent attempts to obtain LVNOC meeting minutes or materials used in the approval process from the Councilman's office have been unsuccessful.

Reduction of any green space in our community is detrimental to all of Chatsworth, not just those living close by.

Please support our opposition to this plan by contacting Councilman Englander at 818-882-1212 or via email at Councilmember.Englander@lacity.org.

A thousand contacts to Councilman Englander are in the noise compared to one phone call by a donation heavy developer.

Dear Councilman Englander I read in the Chatsworth Patch that you have allowed a gravel parking lot at the entrance of the park. Why? I have lived in Chatsworth/ Canoga Park for 59 years! I have seen the park when it was the skeet shooting range and golf range. It was bad enough the park was closed because lead shotgun pellets. What do people think that we roll in the dirt or eat the dirt. Lead is only bad if prolong handling or indigested. Now with all the tress being cut down because of lead contamination was nuts! The trees were healthy! What do you people think we would eat the trees and sue the city. Without any notice to the public the city wants to put in a gravel parking lot in what for? Open the existing parking lots and the area where the play ground is there is NO REASON TO WASTE MONEY WHEN THERE IS A PARKING LOT ALREADY THERE! We the people should have the right to vote if we need a gravel lot and not leaving it up to a Politician!

Contact Reporter Shahagan Of the L.A. Times who told me a few days ago how important Chatsworth is to ecology after I told him of the DWP putting rodenticide down in the Chatsworth Nature preserve in order to murder the Squirrels. Large animals and bird eat the smaller onea and all perish. Pleas call him as he cares.
