But first, Ruth Grant and Zena Thorpe displayed their award-winning Chatsworth Centennial quilt and explained how they stitched the history of the neighborhood in fabric. Included was the Palmer-Hill cottage, the Pioneer Church, the stagecoach trail, horses, poppies, and more. Thorpe, a world-famous quilter, revealed how the night before the quilt was to be unveiled, she and Grant realized they neglected to include a representation of the North Wind.

By next morning, the stitching in the sky above the Palmer-Hill cottage was removed and replaced with waves of wind.

Chatsworth

Chatsworth's Centennial Song

Lyric and Music by Lester "Smitty" Smith Jr.

Arrangement by Walter Clyde Orange

Chatsworth. A great little town.

Nested in the Valley with the mountains all around.

This is Chatsworth our home town.

Early days before we came here

The rocks, oak trees an the Pioneer

were here in Chatsworth our home town.

Can't you see that

we're growing today.

And our children will learn as they play.

And this land has come a long way.

Here in Chatsworth our home town.

In eighteen eighty eight

California state

sent a stagecoach from here with passengers and freight.

Right here in Chatsworth our home town.

Now there's homes, businesses and industry,

schools parks and ranch country.

Here in Chatsworth our home town.

Can't you see that we're growing today

and we'll work hard to keep it this way.

And our children will thank us one day.

For Chatsworth our home town.
