Too Big to Provide, Time to Jettison Time Warner Cable

Time Warner, Too Big to Care?

Institutional arrogance is some thing we, an Angelenos, seem to encounter on a daily basis whether dealing with government, the banks, or service providers.  Perhaps we need to focus on a franchised provider who is too big to care, despite being in the critical business of providing communication to our homes.  That entity is Time Warner Cable who seems to have a collection of inept visionaries and poor communicating contractors who have no idea about the advances in "Smart"  television in the last year or the coming revolution once i-TV makes the scene this year.

TWC simply is bilking the citizens of Los Angeles with obsolete programming and technology, because they have the exclusive local cable franchise.  Their cable programs are duplicative to the point that the same show will be on three channels simultaneously.  They seem unable to fathom that our televisions are now connected to the Internet and require equipment to do so for the screens and Blue Ray players.  More significantly, they seem to be unable to make the leap to wireless tuning devices which should also have modems built within the devices to allow for Internet connectivity.  If TWC cannot keep up with technology on the one hand while financially bleeding customers for cable services, then perhaps our City Council needs to pull their franchise.  Perhaps L.A. needs to encourage better competition in the communications area given advances in technology and the coming of i-TV with the integration of apps and I-Pad usage both on an educational and entertainment level.

The City of Los Angeles has created this cable monster that needs to be more accountable for its ineptness and incompetence.  I am sure many of you in Patchland have been frustrated with the redundant programming being provided to you for over $100.00 a month on HD tuners that cannot fathom what 1080p is.  There also has to be some penalties for this instituional arrogance shown by TWC in its business practices and its ROBO-calling.  Lets see if the City Council can create more jobs by creating more competition in the area of cable and internet services that should provide us with new technologies and not brown dinosaur-like tuning devices.
