CAPITOL PUNISHMENT

Capitol Offenses

The last few days have been the most frustrating for me watching Congress self-destruct and threaten our financial system while hurting our current economy even more with their partisan antics.  The so-called Tea Baggers do not want to budge while mainstream Republicans keep repeating their mantra of kicking Obama out of office while doing nothing to enhance his term.  The Democrats are trying to compromise but they have their spin as well with neither group seemingly giving a damn about us.

Both sides claim that they should not impose this debt on our grandchildren, however, if the economy slips into another deep abyss, our children will not be able to afford having our grandchildren and we will lose as well today.  The stock market doesn't know what to do so there is a computer driven sell off hurting our investments and retirement plans.  Gold is probably going to hit $2000 an ounce before next spring and everyone will be grasping for straws to become alchemists.

What the heck is Congress thinking?  What we see is a divisive legislative body ready to commit us to financial suicide.  Both sides are manipulating this event irrespective of its effect on citizen's lives or their pocketbooks.  Wall Street doesn't care because they can afford to ride the wave with all of their cash on the sidelines or using our cash for which we get less than one percent.

The facts are that this nightmare is being brought to you by both houses of Congress who seem to ignore patriotism in favor of partisanship.  They figure someone else is gloing to shoulder the blame if a deal is not done by August 3 and that the voting public will come guns ablazing in 2012 ready to get the rascals out. It really has gotten to the point where these legislators have pushed our buttons for the very last time. Congress must approve a debt ceiling and do it soon or they will wound us for years to come and that is our Capitol punishment.
