Grand Opening of Our First Habitat ReStore

RIBBON CUTTING & GRAND OPENING

Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is a building surplus store that creates a self sustaining funding source for the purchase of land and the building of affordable housing for low-income families in our community.

ReStore produces: job training, mentoring and service learning opportunities for returning veterans and at risk youths to learn about the retail business and obtain meaningful first-time employment; economic development for small contractors who purchase low-cost materials; reduction in solid waste through recycling; significant reduction in use of landfills by construction industry and manufacturing; improvement in urban blight through providing low-cost materials for low-income homeowners.

Our ReStore will give back to the community by offering job training and programs for the area. The ReStore will be a recycling center for the San Fernando Valley with proceeds enabling the construction of houses for low-income families. Building materials and home appliance will be donated by retail businesses, manufacturers (new, overstocked and discontinued), contractors, individuals and other organizations (including the Entertainment Industry).

The store will accept donations of new and used building materials, fixtures, furniture, appliances, tools and other surplus items appropriate to its market segment and offer them to the public at bargain prices. We do not accept any type of clothing or mattresses.
