Local Therapy Horse Wins Prestigious Award

Lusco, an Andalusian gelding at
Ride On Therapeutic  Horsemanship in

Chatsworth, California, was the recipient of the American Hippotherapy

Association Horse of the Year award for 2013.
Ride On will be celebrating with a party on Friday August 16th from 5pm onwards at our ranch in Chatsworth. There will be fun and games for kids, refreshments and the opportunity to meet Lusco and Ride On's other amazing therapy horses.  There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the programs that Ride On offers as well as our volunteer program.  The party is free and all are welcome to join us.  The award, sponsored by AHA and the American Quarter Horse Association,
was earned by Lusco for being an excellent example of an equine professional
working in hippotherapy.   Lusco has been
the equine member of many therapy teams at Ride On, providing equine movement
for patients of all ages and disabilities.

Ride On was founded in 1994 and serves 170 individuals with disabilities

each week at two ranch locations in the San Fernando and Conejo Valleys. Lusco
began at Ride On as a 5 year old, and has provided expert movement and sensory
input for more than a decade.   Lusco was
one of 10 finalists nationwide for this prestigious award.

Lusco performs many roles at Ride On.    His job as a hippotherapy horse is

unsurpassed, and his willingness, his correctness, his timing and accuracy all

represent what an excellent therapy horse should be.  Ride On will be celebrating Lusco’s award on
Friday August 16th at our San Fernando Valley ranch from 5pm
onwards.  All are invited to attend,
refreshments will be served and the event is free.  For more information please contact Joann
Benjamin at joannbenjamin@vdn.com or sara@rideon.org.
