What's Open and Closed on Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Now you can plan for a long holiday weekend.

Thursday is Thanksgiving and Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. So here's a rundown of what's open and closed:

Stores: Many stores will be opening as early as 8 p.m. on Thursday with their Black Friday super sales. Click here for details.

Government: All government offices, courts, libraries, the DMV and animal shelters, will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Mail: The post office will not deliver mail on Thursday.

Banks: Banks and Wall Street will be closed on Thursday. Financial markets will close early on Friday.

Trash: Los Angeles trash pick-up will be delayed one day.

Schools: Schools will be closed until Monday.

Transit: Metro Buses and subways services will run on a holiday schedule on Thursday. Metrolink trains will not run on Thursday except the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines, which will run on a Sunday schedule.
