Today Is Good Food Day in Los Angeles

The citywide event is part of the annual Mayor's Day of Service.

EVENT ACTIVITIES

Nearly forty event sites, bringing together thousands of volunteers and participants, will be engaged in activities around the city. Volunteer opportunities will include garden plantings and cooking demonstrations, neighborhood cooking competitions, CalFresh sign-ups at farmers markets, and food policy trainings and education. Several project sites will also be hosting Good Food fairs open to the general public.

RESOURCE FAIR + COOKING CONTEST + PANEL DISCUSSION


The closing event will be held in the afternoon at Metabolic Studio under the Spring Street Bridge, adjacent to the Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown. It will feature a resource fair, food trucks, chef demonstrations, and a cabbage cooking contest called From Kim Chee to Cole Slaw which will be judged Pulitzer Prize winning food critic Jonathan Gold and several renowned chefs. It will be followed by a panel discussion focused on the impact of the global food system on workers� rights and the legacy of Cesar Chavez.
