There's a Haunted Halloween House on Mayall Street in Chatsworth

Come early on October 31 for the 7:30 p.m. concert by Siren.

Nothing says Halloween like a good old fashioned haunted house, and Risa Goldberg and Greg Alman boast one of Chatsworth’s best.

An annual tradition celebrating its’ 13th year, this family, located at 22050 Mayall St., does Halloween big. With ghosts and zombies and gravestones galore, they have over a decade’s worth of props spread out across the front yard inviting trick-or-treaters young and old to enjoy the macabre holiday.

“I’ve been doing it since I bought this house,” said Goldberg. “It’s my favorite holiday. And I just love it. The kids love it. The parents love it. And you just don’t find a lot of houses that do it.”

The new additions to this year’s set-up include a functioning guillotine, repainted sets, a new soundtrack of spooky noises and a new color organ.

And the effort shows. The house boasts about a dozen novelty gravestones, coupled with faux-corpses rising from the lawn, animatronics, undead lovebirds and now, for the second year running, the Halloween House will function as a showcase for their son’s band, Siren.

Siren, a four-piece hair metal/power rock group with Goldberg’s son Cory on drums, will be playing an hour-long set beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Halloween. Show up early for good seats, last year the house attracted more than 200 guests to see the 16-year old’s former band, IMPAKT.

“I think one of my neighbors put it best,” said Alman. “They came over to see the show and said, ‘You know, I think this is the first time I’ve ever met most of my neighbors.”

The decorations will be up through October 31 and can be seen day or night, barring wind. All local residents interested in family-friendly fun are invited to attend.
