Small Quake Hits North of Los Angeles

Preliminary reading shows 3.1 magnitude.

A magnitude-3.1 earthquake was recorded about 8 miles west of Grapevine early today, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The temblor, too small to cause damage, struck at 2:16 a.m. some 78 miles northwest of Los Angeles, according to a preliminary reading from the USGS.
