Rain Expected for the Morning Commute

Dry weather is expected for the rest of the week.

A fast-moving storm is expected to begin dousing the Southland Monday just as the morning commute gets under way.

The storm is also expected to produce rough seas, high surf, heavy snow above the 6,000-foot level and fierce winds in the Antelope Valley throughout the day.

But because of its expected timing, the storm's greatest impact could be on early-morning traffic in the Greater Los Angeles area, where steady rain will start around sunrise, said National Weather Service meteorologist Rich Thompson.

The rain will turn to showers this afternoon, when there also will be a slight chance of a thunderstorm, he said. After that, dry weather is expected for the rest of the week and into next week as well.
