Is It Hot Enough for You? Well, There's More to Come

The peak of the heat wave will be Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A warming trend began in the Southland Tuesday, sending temperatures in the San Fernando and Antelope valleys soaring to 100° and above and ushering in a period forecast to be the hottest of the summer and to persist through the weekend.

In the Greater Los Angeles Area, the hottest spot was Lancaster, where the high reached 105°, one degree more than Palmdale, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature reached 102° in Chatsworth, 101° in Woodland Hills and 100° in Northridge.

The heat wave is caused by a combination of weak onshore gradients and a large area of high pressure building in Southern California. The peak of the heat wave will be Thursday and Friday, with daytime high temperatures continuing to be the warmest this summer across the interior locations, according to the National Weather Service.
