'Deck the House' National Winner Hails from California

The grand prize also includes $100,000 to Davis schools.

The Powell family of Davis, CA, will have their December electric bill paid as the national winner of Patch.com's "Deck the House" holiday lighting contest.

The grand prize also includes $100,000 to Davis schools.

“We all won,” Kristy Powell told Patch. “There are a lot of needs at the schools. This is not going to fix it all, but it will help. This is a blessing.”

Powell entered her home in Patch's national Deck the House contest during the holidays and was selected as one of the top 24 finalists in late December. Interestingly, the family lives on a street called Candy Cane Court.
