Bin Laden was killed after a firefight, and forces took custody of his body, Obama said. No Americans were harmed, he said.

News reports say a feeling of "jubilation" is evident at the White House.

Comment came as word spread at a new Chatsworth hookah bar: "Hopefully this begins the transition to bringing the troops home, including some of my friends" said Anthony Palileo, manager of The Social.

"I feel like this brings an end to a lot of things and makes me wonder how it will affect our military strategy," said Jesse Gutterman of Porter Ranch.

"The war won't be over until they get all the terrorists," said Carlos Ureta of Granada Hills.

"Finally! It took 10 years," said Brian Borrego of Chatsworth, a patron at the neighboring Cowboy Palace on Devonshire Street. He says he is joining the military.

"Its not over. It'll never be over.  But I think it'll help. But it's not just one guy, but definitely a step in the right direction," said Boyd Bell of Chatsworth at the Cowboy Palace.

"Truthfully, I think our government will find another way to continue the war that we are fighting right now, because we want to domesticate that part of the world so that we don't need to use our resources and can get their oil cheaper," said Nathanial Chavez-Smith of West Hills at the hookah bar.
