8-Inch Water Main Bursts on Chase St. in Northridge

14 customers will be without water, the DWP says.

The Department of Water and Power is Thursday attempting to turn off a ruptured eight-inch water main on the 19200 block of Chase Street in Northridge, according to the City News Service.

However, crews can't turn the water off to begin work until a couple of parked cars are removed, said Carol Tucker of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

The LAPD has been called. Tucker said that when the flow is closed off, about 14 customers will be without water. It will probably take until Thursday evening before the problem is fixed. The break, which has spilled water into the street, was reported at 1:43 p.m., she said.
