“We can’t wait to open our doors to the Thousand Oaks community,” said Margolin. “Thousand Oaks is a beautiful town with the perfect demographics for Get In Shape For Women.”

Margolin first learned about the growing fitness concept through his sister, who is a member at a Get In Shape For Women location in the Boston area. “My sister had nothing but wonderful things to say about the business model and the people involved with this company, so I decided to reach out to founder Brian Cook and learn more about it.”

Margolin retired a year ago from a 20-year career in international marketing for implantable medical products. After spending five to seven months of the year traveling overseas, it was time to try something new.

“Our family has always been extremely fitness-oriented,” said Margolin. “My kids and wife are avid tennis players and I’ve enjoyed staying fit through boxing. I knew opening a business in the health and fitness industry that allowed me to stop traveling so much and spend more time with my family was the right move for me. And I’m confident that the health-conscious community of Thousand Oaks will fall in love with all Get In Shape For Women has to offer.”

Founded in Needham, Mass. in 2006, Get In Shape For Women empowers women through body transformation in a small group personal training environment where a dedicated trainer works with one to four women at a time. The company’s body transformation program—a unique combination of weight training, cardio, supportive nutrition and accountability—is scientifically proven to work.

Each session consists of 30 minutes of weight training, 25 minutes of cardio plus nutrition coaching for a complete training program for women that produces amazing results. Personal trainers help members set an achievable goal and then holds them accountable for reaching it, with weight and body-fat percentage checked every two weeks. Holding members accountable to someone other than themselves is what sets Get In Shape For Women apart from other personal training and fitness programs often costing two or three times as much.

In addition to the Thousand Oaks location, Get In Shape For Women has three additional studios located in Mill Valley, Corte Madera and Petaluma. Additional locations are slated to open in Santa Rosa and San Rafael early this year. The company is aggressively targeting the West Coast for growth and plans call for 50 franchise locations throughout San Francisco, Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Alameda, and San Mateo counties over the next 3-5 years.

In 2013, Entrepreneur magazine ranked Get In Shape For Women No. 213 out of the top 500 franchises in the U.S. and Inc. magazine ranked the company No. 510 out of the top 5,000 businesses.  The company plans to grow 25 percent each year toward its eventual goal of 5,000 franchise locations worldwide.
