Poll: Put Down Your Coffee and Vote Right Now!

We're searching Chatsworth and Northridge for the best cup of coffee.

Where do you go for a cuppa Joe? A slug of that black elixir of fable and song. Sugar? Nah. Cream. Maybe a drop. But it better be good and hot.

This week Northridge-Chatsworth Patch wants to know where in Northridge and Chatsworth you find your best steaming mug. We've skipped all those corporate on-every-corner coffee emporiums. And the mini-marts. And the petrol places.

When the destination is COFFEE, where do you go?

Vote in the poll below! Add your thoughts in the comments box. The Readers' Choice will be presented with a special Patch certificate.

Also, don't forget to click on one of these links and rate the business on its Patch Directory listing. You can even leave a review:

  • 8826 Reseda Blvd, Northridge
  • 8976 Tampa Ave, Northridge
  • 9028 Balboa Blvd, Northridge,
  • 9301 Tampa Ave, Northridge
  • 9301 Tampa Ave, Northridge
  • 18110 Nordhoff St, Northridge
  • 9201 Winnetka Ave, Chatsworth

And coffee shops and other businesses can claim their listings, too. Details are here.

Vote for your favorite before Friday at noon.

Also, if we missed your favorite Java place, let us know in the comment section below.

MacDonalds always has great coffee.

I love the coffee videos/songs, Saul. Couldn't help but add one of favorite: "Black Coffee in Bed" by Squeeze. I added it to the videos. Anybody else have favorite coffee songs they want to add?

Not a big coffee drinker but I do know that you've left out the big chains -- Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Nothridge on Devonshire/Reseda, and a bunch of Starbucks in Northridge and Chatsworth including their new drive through on DeSoto.

It may not be in Chatsworth, Northridge, or Porter Ranch, but the best coffee and other drinks and fresh baked scones and delicious sandwiches can be found at Mud House Coffee at the corner of Fallbrook and Roscoe in the city of West Hills.

Linda, Nope, we left out the chains on purpose because they are big and corporate. This is an opportunity for the smaller guys to shine.

Marge I agree that MacDonalds's coffee is always terrific! There is absolutely no need to go anywhere else. And, somehow, it is always hot and freshly made.

so only one place in chatsworth has coffee?? this is what happens when you mix neighboring communities. everything gets diluted.
Sheila Morgan April 19, 2012 at 10:23 PM
And their ice-blended latte uses REAL espresso. Love the Muddhouse scones.

Actually, if we include the chains, not only does McDonald's have great coffee consistently, but the 7-11 on Mason South of Lassen always has great, fresh coffee of several flavors, and has mixes if you want to get fancy. The 7-11 's on Devonshire and Topanga and Lassen and DeSoto are also good if you get the coffee fresh. All in our beloved Chatsworth.

I agree with Lauren about Mudd House Coffee. They used to have a small drive-up kiosk across from CSUN in addition to their location on Roscoe. Great coffee, yummy fresh scones. And when you get a custom made sandwich it comes with a cookie.

'Coffee break' from 'How to Succeed in Business...' is a quirky song. http://youtu.be/CIX_yZAkblI

I missed my favorite thing...Coffee! The ONE place that had very good coffee was Sononma Cafe on Tampa just south of Nordhoff (In the Bed Bath Beyond building). They closed after a short run I think due to not being visible in the corner by the RXR tracks... besides other general business issues. They had the best coffee using Cafecito Organica, (a local roaster) and had fresh beans on hand. I drank espresso which is the most demanding drink for coffee beans to be fresh. Otherwise I order beans from Cafecito, Inteligensia, sometimes Peet's, Paradise, RedBird, and few other select batch roasters.
