VIDEO: A Boot Camp for Sign Spinners

Ever wonder if those sign spinners around Los Angeles get training? The answer is yes and it happens here in the Valley.

They're all over Los Angeles. They're typically students in their late teens or early twenties and can be found standing on any given street corner, that bears the name of a sandwich shop or the prospect of low-interest financing.

But there is a behind-the-scenes to the world of sign spinning advertising and like most jobs, there is also training.

Every Wednesday, employees of AArrow, a now international company that stations sign spinners throughout the city, meet at North Hollywood Park to practice moves like the necktie or Bruce Lee.

They often can be seen practicing their art on corners in Chatsworth, Northridge and Porter Ranch.

It's a profession that requires good hand-eye coordination as well as a good smile.

Check out the accompanying video for the full story.
