Today Is Free Comic Book Day; Here's Where to Get Yours

More than 40 titles are being offered in this annual promotion.

For some, they'll be busy celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Saturday. But for those who really like to party hardy, they'll be lining up early in their super hero costumes for the free fiesta of fantasy at their local comic emporia.

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day across America.

When began in 2002, only four publishers were wiling to participate. Now, with more than 40 titles available, everyone from the big daddies DC and Marvel to the little guys and independents are showing off.

“I've been doing in-store appearances during Free Comic Book Day for a few years now, and I love the sense of excitement,” Cullen Bunn, writer of "Spider-Man: Season One,” told USA Today. His is among the titles being given away this year. “I see all these readers, both existing fans and folks that are new to comics, browsing the shelves, reveling in and discovering and rediscovering comics.”
