The Weekend Planner: NoHo Arts Festival, Plus Comedy, Music and 'Sock Hops'

It's an indoor/outdoor weekend for laughs, art, shopping and food.

Experience NoHo 

Why Go: It's a free, multi-arts festival and celebration in the heart of the bustling NoHo Arts District, featuring live theater, dance, music, art, fashion and food. Outdoor stages will offer music and dance. Public art stations invite patrons to create their own art, and there will be seven gallery installations to view. Fifteen NoHo theaters will present free performances, classes and demos.  Discounts and offerings from local restaurants and retailers.

When/Where: Saturday, noon-8 p.m., in the NoHo Arts District, spanning Lankershim Boulevard from Chandler Boulevard to Camarillo Street; Bakman to Vineland avenues.

NoHo Dine Out Friday Nights

When/Where: Every Friday; parking lot at 11452 Burbank Blvd., just west of Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood.

Why Go: Eat at gourmet food trucks and shop local holiday boutiques. Dine with your neighbors and make new friends too.

Pricing: Free admission; food and shopping costs.

Raging Jews of Comedy

When/Where: Saturday, 8:30-10 p.m. (doors open at 8 p.m.); 10-10:30 p.m. VIP reception with comedians. Temple Aliyah, 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Why Go: It's a hilarious night with professional comedians you've seen on late-night television: Tommy Savitt, Mark Schiff, James Harris and Sunda Croonquist.

CHOMP at Calabasas High

When/Where: Saturday, 1-9 p.m., Calabasas High School, 22855 W. Mullholland Hwy., Calabasas.

Why Go: It's a great fundraiser for Calabasas High and is open to the public. Enjoy gourmet food trucks, local bands, holiday boutiques, games, activities and more! 

Pricing: $5; children under 3 are free.

Sock Hops and Soda Shops—A Musical Revue Starring the Wonderelles

When/Where: Sunday, 2-4 p.m., Madrid Theater, 21622 Sherman Way, Canoga Park.

Why Go: If you loved the great girl groups of the '50s and '60s, you'll love the Wonderelles in this high-energy musical revue that features all the top girl-group hits of the era, complete with stylish choreography, period costumes and great vocal harmonies. From the Supremes to the Shirelles, from medleys to movies, the Wonderelles entertain in grand musical style. The Wonderelles will also highlight some of the great male hits, like Elvis, Little Richard and Bill Haley and His Comets. Plus, there'll be plenty of surprises and lots more oldies music and fun!

Indoor Snow at Westfield Topanga
 
When/Where: Saturday,  4:30-6:30 p.m. 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.
 
Why Go: It will be snowing indoors on the lower level of Westfield Topanga. Join Santa and kids music sensation Elly Stefanko as they light up the Christmas tree and kick off the holiday season with special performances including dancing and singing, hot cocoa and story time from Barnes and Noble.
