Some Los Angeles area customers of Time Warner Cable were experiencing a service interruption that kept them from viewing the Super Bowl today.

Time Warner Cable reported via Twitter that it was working to fix an issue with the KTTV feed that was keeping some of its Los Angeles-area customers from viewing the game.

The interruption ended about 5:50 p.m.

The contest was viewable on the cable carrier's high-definition Fox channel, TWC reported.

Customers from Los Angeles to Ventura County were reporting that the non-HD channel froze during a Volkswagen commercial.

Attempts to contact TWC for comment were not successful.

Very strange that the KTLA broadcast was the ONLY one of Tme Warner's Super Bowl feeds to go down. Twitter was all a-tweet with how the HD channel was working, and the Spanish-language channel was working. Time Warner has been phasing out non-HD programming, putting pressure those of us who still have not bought into the higher-priced HD digital box (and new TV). What they don't realize is that we have so many other options now. We just streamed it online.

I watched it on regular old-fashoined rabbit ears, and therefore was immune to any cable problems. I got tired of being bilked by cable and other TV subscription providers, and quite honestly the quality is MUCH better over-the-air anyway… No bills and no outages. And with the internet, I can rent or buy any movie or TV series I want, without cable or satellite and their costly movie channels and pay-per-view purchases. (herein lies a subliminal message to Time-Warner, et al).
