Judge Tosses Part of Mattel's Bratz Doll Lawsuit

Mattel contends that the Bratz creator still worked for them when he came up with the idea for the sexily dressed, pouty, multiethnic dolls.

A state court judge has tossed a lawsuit by toy giant Mattel that accuses its rival MGA Entertainment of fraudulently transferring millions in funds to avoid paying anticipated judgments in litigation over ownership of the popular, pouty-lipped Bratz doll, according to the Associated Press.

Van Nuys-based MGA has offices in the former Los Angeles Times facility at 20000 Prairie St. in Chatsworth.

The El Segundo-based Mattel filed its complaint last September in the run-up to a federal copyright infringement and trade secrets trial pitting Mattel against MGA over who owns the billion-dollar Bratz brand, the Associated Press reported.
