Is It Too Hot to Shop?

Three area businesses are holding weekend grand opening events.

It's hot, hot, hot... no, not just the weather, but for new businesses.

At least three are opening this weekend.

The Sports Authority sporting goods store is opening 8 a.m., Saturday, at the Northridge Fashion Center, 9301 Tampa Ave, Northridge, in the former Border's location. The first 250 customers will win Mystery Bucks (valued up to $500), $100 gift cards will be given away every hour from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and shoppers are invited to register for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree.

Sports Authority shoppers can meet:

  • Pro Hockey Defenseman Alec Martinez at 10:30 a.m.
  • Former Dodgers Infielder Steve Garvey at 1 p.m.

Regular store hours are Monday-Saturday - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday - 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

HomeGoods, an off-price store dedicated to home fashions, will open a new store in Granada Hills 8 a.m., Sunday. The 25,000 square-foot store is located at Granada Village, 10813 Zelzah Ave. at Chatsworth Street.  On grand opening day, the first 250 shoppers will receive a free reusable HomeGoods shopping bag.

Regular store hours are Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Special grand opening day hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

And Studio Dyad at 8965 Reseda Blvd., in Northridge Village, is having a grand opening event celebrating The Art Of Style from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.  Studio Dyad will be featuring beauty items, demos, discounts, and free swag bags.
