It was shoulder-to-shoulder and belly-to-belly for the grand opening of Dickey's Barbecue Pit, 9035 Reseda Blvd., just blocks away from Cal State Northridge.
Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwiches were only a buck for much of Friday's celebration, and the first 200 customers received bottles of BBQ sauce.
It was a “great day, full of energy from the local community," said franchise owner Todd Schwartz. "I enjoyed serving our authentic mouthwatering barbecue and getting to know the local community better."
Roland Dickey, Sr. attended the event. His father founded Dickey's Barbecue Pit in 1941. More than 70 years later, the Dallas-based company has opened in 250 locations in 43 states. Dickey also has a book coming out on October 1 titled “Mr. Dickey’s Barbecue Cookbook.”
