Danny Heller is a house painter. No. Not the way you think.

His specialty is portraits of mid-century architecture. You may already know his work if you've seen his painting of Chatsworth's Stoney Point which is appearing on many Metro buses.

As a kid who grew up in Northridge and Chatsworth, he never really paid attention to the modernistic houses which are virtually an iconic signature for Southern California. But a course at UC Santa Barbara opened his eyes.

Now, from his studio in Silver Lake, he travels frequently to Palm Springs where these 1960s sun-baked "Mad Men"-style homes abound. And working from photographs he snaps, Heller creates super-realistic works of art.
