12-Year-Old Northridge Prodigy Composes Tsunami Symphony

His composition will open the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra concert season.

What were you doing when you were 11?

Last year Nathan Le of Northridge wrote a symphony in memory of the 20,000 who perished in the Japanese tsunami.

Le, who attends Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, told the Daily News, "I watched the news and wanted to express my feeling on all the suffering in Japan."

And so the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra is in rehearsal at Pierce College preparing to perform his Symphony No. 1 in A minor in Thousand Oaks on Saturday. Le's work will open the concert season.
