WATCH: UCSB Students Create Video to Show Their Resolve

"We need to be, a beacon of light and hope in the face of a darkness," they say.

Students at UC Santa Barbara's Film Studies department made this film about their resolve to move past the events of just a week ago.

On May 23, Santa Barbara City College student and San Fernando Valley resident Elliott Rodger stabbed his three roommates to death, then drove to student enclave Isla Vista, with the intentions of shooting women -- whom he said spurned him all his life -- and random people before taking his own life.

When the carnage ended, six victims, all UCSB students, and Rodger were dead.

As it says on the video's home page:

We can be, we need to be, a beacon of light and hope in the face of a darkness that threatens to overtake us.

As it has become increasingly apparent in the unending outpouring of support from within and all around our community:

We stand as one.
