Want to Debate Fracking ... Or Just Learn About It?

The Santa Susana Mountain Park Association will feature both proponents and opponents of the controversial practice called fracking at an upcoming meeting.

The Santa Susana Mountain Park Association will feature both proponents and opponents of the controversial practice called fracking at an upcoming meeting.

In February, the Los Angeles City Council took the first step toward putting a stop to hydraulic fracturing and other similar drilling methods that energy companies use to extract petroleum and natural gas.

The Santa Susana Mountain Park Association promises at its April 21 meeting, you'll "learn what fracking is. Learn how it works and where it's done. What are its advantages, its risks? Why is it a political issue as well as a technological issue?"

The meeting, free to the public, starts at7 p.m. Monday, April 21 at the Rockpointe Clubhouse, 22300 Devonshire St. in Chatsworth.
