Volunteers Clean Up Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park

It was the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Saturday.

HOPE Worldwide and the Foundation for the Preservation of the Santa Susana Mountains joined forces with volunteers from the Chatsworth community to help clean up the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park for their Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Saturday.

Volunteers helped remove invasive plants, cleared brush from trails, installed posts for park signs, and painted over graffiti. A group of children and parents cleaned up trash in the upper meadow off the Lilac Lane entrance, and were treated to panoramic views of the San Fernando Valley in the process.  More than 150 people participated in this year's event.

Every year volunteers and community-based organizations across the nation undertake efforts to improve the community in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s contributions. HOPE Worldwide is an international non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor and needy through sustainable, community-based services, including healthcare, nutrition, housing and education.
