Rocketdyne Rocket Engine Moving from Canoga to Chatsworth

A massive unused engine similar to the ones used to launch Apollo mission rockets into space is being moved from its longtime Canoga Park home to Chatsworth this week, according to the Daily News.

The Saturn V engine, which weighs 18,400-pound, belongs to Aerojet Rocketdyne, but the company has been sold and the new owners are looking to close the Canoga Park office.

A 3.3-mile haul will eventually bring the engine to Chatsworth's Aerojet Rocketdyne location.

The company was bought by GenCorp for $500 million.
