Northridge Deliciousness Ride Rolls Through Town

A Metro effort aims to show people how to incorporate cycling when running quick errands in their communities.

Nearly 70 cyclists teamed up for a group ride on Saturday through Northridge and Granada Hills visiting local eateries to promote blending in more cycling into daily routines, according to transportation blog the Source.

Meetup was at Dearborn Park and from there, riders headed to Original Weiler’s Northridge Delicatessen, Gayle’s Perks, Delicious Bakery and A Sweet Design where they chatted with the proprietors and sampled a few of their tasty products.

The ride was the sixth in a planned series of 20 bike rides being organized by Metro.

"The goal of these rides is to encourage local bicycling trips by people of all bicycling abilities," wrote Metro planner Rubina Ghazarian. "Forty percent of all trips trips are two miles or less, yet 90 percent of those trips are made in a car. These are trips that can easily be made on a bicycle."
