Our Community Begins 125th Anniversary Year at Chatsworth Park School

Chatsworth Historical Society photos recount school's history.

Chatsworth begins it's 125-year anniversary celebration with a photo display of a school that is even older than the incorporation of the community.

Chatsworth was founded on March 10, 1888. But the town's first school dates to 1880.

Alumni of the Chatsworth Park Elementary School gathered Wednesday in the administration office with Principal Esther Leon to view the display created by the Chatsworth Historical Society of the 133 years of the school’s history.  The display includes photos of the school, historical information and memories of past alumni.

It has a long history, beginning in 1880 with the first building, a new building in 1917, followed by the building that exists today built in 1935.  Please enjoy the accompanying five historic photos that are on display at the school for further details and history relating to the school.  Maybe you have a story or photo that you can share in the comments box below! Did you play Socco on the playground, look forward to Thursday Hot Dog Day, or purchase milk for 7 cents to go with your sack lunch in 1968?

Chatsworth Park Elementary School and the Historical Society are working together to share the history of the school and Chatsworth with the students.
