Mayor Comes to Chatsworth ... on Horseback

You can saddle up and ride with him, too.

Mayor Eric Garcetti will join City Council members Sunday for an annual horseback ride through Chatsworth that is open to the public.

The event, organized by Councilman Mitch Englander's office and led by Equestrian Trails Inc.'s Corral 54 riders club, is open to the public. Those without their own mounts can rent horses from Rocken P. Outfitters.

The group will ride about 5 1/2 miles through Chatsworth and Stoney Point North. The  event is organized by Englander's office to give him and other City Council members representing the San Fernando Valley a chance to get to know equestrians in their districts, Corral 54 trail boss Charlotte Brodie said.

The roughly 90 minute ride passes through some hills, "so they have a little flavor of what is in our backyard besides houses," Brodie said.

Riders will gather at 1 p.m. at Stoney Point Ranch, 10661 Andora Ave, and depart at about 1:30 p.m.
