Take Devonshire West past Valley Circle. After Valley Circle is Larwin. Turn left and look to the right for the power lines. The entrance to the park is right under the power lines.
Teena is one of our resident experts on native plants and wildflowers. Bring your camera and get ready to take some amazing photographs (Teena knows all of the best locations). You will come away enriched with knowledge and eager to learn more! We have a relatively light wildflower season, but we’ll see what is out, the north side usually is good for sunflowers and monkey flowers at least!
Rain cancels, even light rain. With our crazy weather, be aware also that excessive heat of 95 degrees or more also cancels.
Wear sunscreen and long pants because the brush is thick and sticky. Although we try to avoid poison oak, sometimes it is encountered. Wear sturdy hiking boots. A walking stick is preferred by some hikers – the Devils Slide involves some high steps and the trail around the north side is steep in several places. Bring plenty of water. A hat is also recommended.
The SSPSHP is primitive – this means that there are no toilets, so please plan accordingly.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are on leash. Please remember to bring enough water for your four-legged friend. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
