Learning the Ropes in Chatsworth -- Chumash-Style

Naturalist Dr. Kent Christenson teaches a hands-on class in cordage.

Do you know how the Chumash wove watertight baskets? How they created rope using native plants?

Expert and naturalist Dr. Kent Christenson taught a recent hands-on Native Skills Class on the grounds of Chatsworth's historic Hill-Palmer Homestead Acre.

Locals learned cordage techniques Saturday at the class organized by the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park and the Foundation for the Preservation of the Santa Susana Mountains.
