Rainbow Heralds Arrival of Cold, Clear Days

National Weather Service predicts mostly clear skies through Christmas Day.

As the dark rain clouds moved out of our area Tuesday afternoon, a rainbow appeared over Chatsworth.

The National Weather Service is predicting cold and mostly dry conditions through Christmas Day—perhaps as close as we get to a winter wonderland in Los Angeles.

Here's the forecast:

Tonight: Partly cloudy with isolated showers through early evening...then mostly clear. Patchy frost late in wind sheltered locations. Lows in the 30s. Areas of north winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.

Wednesday: Sunny. Patchy frost early in wind sheltered locations. Highs in the mid to upper 50s. Areas of northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph...diminishing late. 

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear. Areas of frost forming late. Lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Local northeast winds around 15 mph. 

Thursday: Sunny. Areas of frost early in the morning. Highs in the lower to mid 60s. Local northeast winds around 15 mph in the morning. 

Thursday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the 30s. 

Friday Through Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs near 60. Lows in the 30s except 40s in the hills. 

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of rain. Lows in the mid 40s to lower 50s. 

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain. Highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. 

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Lows in the 40s. 

Monday: Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. 

Monday Night And Christmas Day: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower to mid 40s. Highs near 60.
