Walden Family Services Announces Holiday Gift Drive for Teens
Walden Family Services, a non-profit foster care and adoption agency, is holding its annual Southern California holiday gift drive starting now through December 13. This year’s drive will focus on collecting gifts for teenage foster children and foster youth who have aged out of the system, including those in Walden Family Services’ Transitional Housing Placement, Nurturing Parenting and After Care programs.
With the astounding number of children in the foster care system, older children and teenagers are often overlooked during holiday gift drives. Walden Family Services is asking for donated new items popular among older youth including hoodies, movie tickets, scarves, jewelry and accessories, curling irons, hair straighteners, chapsticks, scented lotions and body wash, skinny jeans, head phones/ear buds, purses, wallets, books, baseball caps, fedora hats, makeup, household cleaning items, food and gift cards.
“The holiday season should be a magical time for everyone and it is unfortunate that teenagers and young adults are often forgotten in holiday gift drives,” states Walden Family Services executive director Teresa Stivers. “No one should go without a gift during the holidays, especially a foster child. “
