Calling all backyard fruit tree owners!  Citrus Sunday is an annual one-day event sponsored by District 12 Councilmember Mitchell Englander, 8 Neighborhood Councils, and other area community groups.  It benefits struggling San Fernando Valley families each year by placing thousands of pounds of fresh citrus and other fruit that otherwise would go to waste in the hands of our most needy neighbors.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, May 18 from 9 am to 1 pm.  It's easy to participate!  Harvest extra/unwanted backyard fruit - your own and/or that of willing friends and neighbors - bag it, and deliver it to one of the other drop off locations listed below. The fruit will be collected and redistributed by the Valley Interfaith Council and other charitable organizations that service local food banks.

Sierra Canyon School first grader Lucas Grossman has been a dedicated volunteer for the past 3 years.  You can watch a wonderful video about the event that he prepared with the help of his professional filmmaker father Adam:  http://www.good-dog-media.com/downloadCS2014.NorthridgeSouth/

Don't miss this opportunity to make a big difference in our community!
