Graffiti Vandals Get Bolder as Los Angeles Talks Budget Cuts
City Council is urged to chop cleanup funds by half.
As the city's top financial adviser is recommending the City Council hack the $7 million graffiti removal budget by half, graffiti vandals seem to be getting bolder in Chatsworth.
A recent example of their work appears on the side of the DWP building southeast of the intersection of Devonsire Street and De Soto Avenue, and is illustrated here.
Financial analysts say the reduction in graffiti removal funds will help the city balance its budget.

Absolutely the wrong funds to cut from any budget... the very ones that send the message that we do not tolerate graffiti, crime or gang banging! Once you lose control of the infestation it will be hard to reclaim the area as a desirable, safe place to live and work!

I agree. Wrong funds to cut from any budget. Let's discuss our politicians slush funds aka "Discretionary Funds" to the tune of $1-2 million dollars a year, per council member. $15-30 million dollars a year or more is certainly enough to control the graffiti in the city.

People don't look into graffiti enough. I'm not trying to prove u wrong or anything but I no for a fact that less than 10% of graffiti is gang related. The rest are taggers. The taggers get dragged into gangs for their talent. This problem could be avoided if we put more money twards out school system and stop cutingfunds for art.
