A fire broke out in a vehicle today on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Chatsworth, then spread into brush in Rocky Peak Park.
The auto fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. on the westbound freeway at Rocky Peak Fire Road, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The blaze burned in a half-acre of brush with 13 mph winds and 37 percent humidity in the area, Scott said.
Firefighters made a "quick attack'" and were "getting a good handle'" on the flames, according to Scott.
With 50 firefighters on the scene, the flames were held to a half-acre and out in 37 minutes, Scott said.
